Help Guide: How to find rooms quickly
For those delegations that were not able to reserve affordable beds,
the situation in Heidelberg is not easy. However, we tried to put
together various sources of information that might help you to still
find a place to stay for your delegation.
UPDATE:
several beds are still available at the Heidelberg Youth Hostel.
Sent eMail to youth-hostel@worldmun.juracafe.de
quickly or call +49-(0)6221-163680.
Several options need to be considered quickly:
1. Youth Hostel Mannheim
The Youth Hostel Heidelberg has no beds left to rent.
The nearest other Youth Hostel is located in Mannheim,
and still has some beds from the 23rd to the 26th of March. Neither
before Sunday 23rd nor for the last night from 26th to 27th do they
have beds left, however. This one night has to be spent somewhere
else.
The Youth Hostel Mannheim has some disadvantages.
The last train from Heidelberg to Mannheim at night leaves the Heidelberg
main station at 0.44 a.m. and arrives in Mannheim at 0.59 a.m. (next
train at 4.44 a.m.!). From the Mannheim station, there might not
be a late bus to the hostel - and you would have to walk a bit.
If you get from each evening's location to the station on time and
manage to arrange your late entrance to the hostel, everything is
fine. If not, well...
Also, since your traveling distance to Heidelberg
is a little further in the morning, you would have to get up on
time. Plenty of trains commuting between the two cities should make
this quite acceptable.
We have been able to offer a ticket valid for all
bus transfer in Heidelberg. We will check whether this ticket allows
you to travel at least on some trains to Mannheim. If it does not,
extra costs arise. Watch this page for updates.

2. Small Hotels in Heidelberg
Another option is to look through a very comprehensive
list of all hotels in Heidelberg and see if there is one that still
has enough room for your delegation. The list is provided among
other info by Heidelberg's Tourist Info Company here
(direct download of the list in pdf-format here).
Make sure you ask for morning and evening public
tranportation to the city center (i.e. to the Bismarckplatz).
3. Private Accomodation
We have already asked among our team members to find
possible beds hidden in someone's house. This channel is exhausted
by now.
4. Report what you find out
If you happen to find a solution that we have not
yet discovered, it would be more than helpful to others that have
not been as successful as you to share that information. Just one
quick eMail to accomodation@worldmun.juracafe.de
- thanks!
Good luck!
